Formula Student is a student level friendly motorsport competition organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in Europe. The event is backed by renowned mechanical industries and automotive OEMs to encourage budding engineers and designers to innovate and become industry ready by the time they graduate.
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) kick-started Formula SAE competition back in 1981 in the United States. In 1998, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers joined hands with SAE International to inaugurate and run FS in Europe at the end of each academic year.
