General Motors is well established in China. They are represented through a total of 12 joint ventures and over 35000 employees in the country. Their passenger cars and commercial models are well received and the company ranks among the top auto manufacturers in China which is at the acme where demand for top end luxury vehicles is concerned. During the past year, GM sold 2.5 million vehicles in China while in association with GM China’s SAIC-GM-Wuling JV, sales have already reached the 1 millionth mark this year for the fourth consecutive year.

This is the earliest that GM has reached this target. Last year, the 1 millionth target was reached only in October. During the period January to August 2012, GM China’s SAIC-GM-Wuling JV sold 3,500 vehicles per day which was a 15.2% increase as compared to sales in the same eight months of 2011. Domestic sales of commercial vehicles were well over the 934,000 mark which was a 50% increase.

This joint venture which was entered into between General Motors and Wuling Motors goes back to 2002 and ever since then the company has been forging ahead in sales in the country with special emphasis on changing demands and adding more and more to their product line to satisfy needs of the people of China.
