Isuzu India CKD kits contract manufacturing agreement with Hindustan Motors

The Isuzu brand in India is known in a big way largely due to Hindustan Motors’ Ambassador, which uses an Isuzu engines since 1992. The tie up with Isuzu will give Hindustan Motors a boost in regards to production operation.


Isuzu’s contract manufacturing agreement with Hindustan Motors (HMIL) will see the latter assemble MU-7 SUV and D-Max pick-up truck CKD kits at their Thiruvallur, Chennai plant. An Isuzu showroom will be inaugurated tomorrow, December 11, 2013 at the Industrial & IT suburb of Ambattur in Northern Chennai.

The company aims at expanding their dealer network from 2 to 8 by the end of this year. At present, 90% of Isuzu vehicles sold in Philippines are locally assembled, and Isuzu began manufacturing D-Max in Philippines this month. Standing on a 3-metre wheel-base makes MU-7 one of the longest SUVs in India, ensuring an interior that’s spacious and luxurious.
