Jaguar XJ price for locally made variant at Rs 95 lakhs?
Jaguar XJ is one of the most iconic stretched out saloons you can see on road. Now, it is going to be assembled locally, against importing via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. This makes for some cost savings that will be passed on to the customers.
That’s not all, the locally made grandeur XJ will be given extra treatments in the cabin to refresh the interiors. It will also host some new luxury features to enhance chauffeured experience. This will include isolated reclining seats at rear, with 3 preset massage options, rear seat height and lumbar support adjustment; while front seats get 5 preset massage options. Headroom of Jaguar XJ at rear portion of cabin will be increased by 13 mm. Further additions include a new centre console, new armrest, electric side blinds, and LED reading lights at rear.
Top of line variant of Jaguar XJ will get seat position memory options, 10.2 inch entertainment displays for rear seated passengers, and a ‘business’ table at the rear.
Jaguar India website mentions that the XJ will be offered with a 3.0l diesel six cylinder engine. This engine delivers maximum power of 271 hp and peak torque 600 Nm. It has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph, 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds and a claimed mileage of 12.9 kmpl. A 2.0l petrol will also be on offer delivering 236 hp and 340 Nm torque. This one will deliver mileage of 9.4 kmpl. It will have a top speed of 241 kmph, and a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 7.5 seconds.
Once launched, locally made Jaguar XJ will compete other luxury cars in the segment. Jaguar India showcased the car at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, images of which can be found here. Bookings are now open at authorized dealerships for an amount of Rs 5 lakhs.
