What if Fiat Auto is not doing great in selling cars in India, their engines are very much in demand. Fiat Auto India plant in Ranjangaon near Pune has a capacity to manufacture 300,000 units annually. Fiat is already providing engines to Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, and now they are very close to signing a deal with their old partner, Premier Padmini which will see Fiat providing 1.3L diesel engines... 

As reported earlier by Rushlane in August, Premier has finally launched their all new Rio compact SUV with a petrol engine in India. Premier Rio petrol is now available for a price of Rs 4.7 lacs across all company authorized dealers in India. Premier Rio diesel base model is available for Rs 5.29 lacs (ex-showroom). This means that the petrol Rio is approximately Rs 60,000 lesser than the diesel Rio.... 

In order to increase their market share in the Indian auto industry, Premier Automobiles is planning on launching 2 new variants of their only passenger vehicle currently available in India, Rio mini SUV. As of now, in the Indian car industry, Rio mini SUV is available in 3 variants namely, Rio EX for Rs 5.29 lakhs, Rio DX for Rs 5.54 lakhs, and Rio LX for Rs 5.99 lakhs. Lucky auto lovers on the streets of Pune yesterday witnessed the testing of the Rio by Premier.  Rio with BS4 compliant multi jet engines was seen being tested on Pune roads, and luckily it wasn't canvas covered.  Expected to be officially launched during Diwali this year, Premier is said to have bought onboard a 1.3 liter multi jet engine for urban use, and 1.5 liter engines for rural or semi urban... 

Auto company Premier reappeared on the auto scene in the latter half of 2009.  It was the prelude of RIO, a compact mini SUV.  At the present moment this vehicle is running on 1.5 turbocharged engine and torque of 152 Nm. An SUV from Fiat, which also brings out and is famous for taxis of Mumbai, seems to be quite eye catcher. If information is to be believed, its engine may be changed to a 1.3 liter... 

Remember Premier Padmini? The car that ruled Indian roads for the longest time ever, was first brought in India by Walchand Hirachand Group's, Premier Automobiles in 1955. Ten years ago, the SUV was launched as the Daihatsu Terios and then manufacturing rights went to Zotye Auto that sells about 100,000 of these vehicles p.a. and Premier with its new deal can sell the SUV in India.
