Maruti Celerio EZ Drive spied inside out
Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been spotted near Pune in an undisguised format. Based on the A:Wind Concept seen at Thailand International Motor Expo at the end of 2013, the Celerio will replace A Star in India.
It was apparently a top end Maruti Suzuki Celerio that was spotted on test in Magarpatta City, Pune. It was sporting a host of chrome accents, indicators integrated into its ORVMs, rear windshield wipers and a high-mounted stop lamp.
The upcoming Celerio will be powered by a 1 liter K10 petrol engine, as seen on board the Wagon R, delivering around 67 BHP power at 6,200 rpm and 100 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm, mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. Mileage will be in the region of 18 kmpl.
Apart from this, there will also be an AMT – Automated Manual Transmission option on offer. This will be cheaper and more fuel efficient as compared to an automatic gear box. This is the first time in India AMT is being introduced in a car. The AMT system of Celerio is called EZ Drive.
Maruti Suzuki press conference at the 2014 Auto Expo is scheduled to take place on the morning of 5th Feb 2014, the first day of Delhi Auto Expo. It is here that they will introduce the new Celerio. Prices should be in the range of INR 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs further details will be made known at launch. (exterior images via, interior images via)
