Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG launch in June 2014
Maruti Suzuki Celerio, launched at 2014 Auto Expo has been a phenomenal success right from the word ‘Go’, clocking almost 1,000 bookings per month. Today, the situation is such that due to overbooking for Celerio AMT and waiting periods which extend up to 8 months, some dealers have stopped accepting new bookings. But, this situation is expected to change soon, as Maruti will launch Celerio CNG variant next month.
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG variant will be launched in June 2014 and will be restricted to a manual variant with no AMT gearbox being offered. Celerio CNG will receive a 1.0 liter K series petrol engine capable of producing 68 PS power and 90 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 5 sped manual transmission claiming fuel efficiency of 23.1 km/kg.
Running on CNG will ensure that the Celerio is far more economical to run, as CNG price today in Delhi stands at approximately Rs 38/kg. Though buyers should be ready to notice a marginal lag of power.
As on date, Maruti Suzuki offers CNG kits on Alto 800, WagonR and on the Ertiga in their current lineup. Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG is to be available only on the VXi variant. Celerio VXi manual variant is priced at INR 4.20 lakhs while the Celerio CNG variant could come in at a price of around INR 4.70 lakhs. Besides offering the CNG variant, Maruti Suzuki is also keen to introduce Celerio with a diesel engine which should be launched early 2015.
