As far as the Indonesian market is concerned, this entry level multipurpose passenger car (MPV) uses the same manual transmission and ABS brake system that is seen in Suzuki Ertiga.
The addition of Mazda VX-1 will add momentum to a segment that sees the Suzuki Ertiga,Toyota Avanza, Chevrolet Spin, Nissan Livina, and Daihatsu Xenia compete. Akin to the Suzuki Ertiga, Mazda VX-1 MPV has a 5-speed transmission, and is powered by a 1.4-liter petrol engine with max power at 95 ps at 6000 rpm, and torque of 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The Suzuki Ertiga is predictably known as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India. Earlier too, Mazda had rebadged the Suzuki Palette when it began selling the vehicle as Flairwagon in the domestic market.
