Tata Zest spied testing near Kari Motor Speedway Coimbatore
Tata seems to be running a nation wide Zest campaign with test mules covered with Zest stickers. Sparing just windshield, mirror and lights, the supposed camouflage of Zest covers entire car wherever it is to be painted.
Tata Zest will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) as seen in Maruti Celerio will be featured in Zest, making it the most affordable diesel automatic sedan in India.
Zest petrol will be hosting Tata’s new 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine that with turbocharger, that produces max. power of 85 PS at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm between 1,750 and 3,000 rpm. Zest diesel will be powered by 1.3 liter Quadrijet engine churning out max. power of 75 PS and peak torque of 190 Nm. Price of Tata Zest petrol is expected to start at Rs. 5 lakh, while Zest diesel could fall in Rs. 6 lakh range.
Upcoming Tata Bolt hatchback and Zest sub 4 metre sedan were introduced at Delhi Auto Expo in February 2014. Zest is expected to launch before Bolt by July 2014.
Both these cars seem to be in final phase of their testing and production will commence soon. To ensure successful comeback, Tata Motors is hiring 3000 new staffers to double its workforce in dealerships and is enforcing a major overhaul of sales and marketing team strategies. Dealership outlets are being renovated to include enhanced customer experience systems.
