Auto manufacturers have been looking at alternative fuels to power vehicles since the past few years. Apart from diesel, brands have started incorporating natural gas kits within vehicles to provide users with an eco friendly mobility option which ensures a higher fuel economy rating. Natural gas is an energy resource which boasts of a high energy content. Energy produced by a kilogram of natural gas is equivalent to energy produced by 1.3 liters of diesel and 1.5 liters of petrol respectively.
Volkswagen he Eco-up is currently the most fuel efficient vehicle in the world with a fuel economy of 2.9 kg of natural gas per 100 km.Other than natural gas, alternative fuels like biomethane are also being considered for use to power car and other transportation features in later years. Hydrogen cell powered vehicles can be expected in the future as companies are looking at innovative ways to harness energy without increasing costs of mobility.
