At the VW stand present for the Sao Paulo Show, the new Taigun is the model which is receiving a number of visitors. Apart from this SUV model, the brand also unveiled its Gol three door hatchback car model. This unveiling comes close on the heels of the world premier of the 5-door hatchback.

The new three door variant features each and every aspect of the five- door variant. These features include restyled front and rear end portions which bring this car in the league of VW’s latest lineup. New interiors and a tuned 1.0 Liter engine which is capable of 72 hp when using gasoline and 76 hp when using ethanol are among other features of this 3 door variant.

There are engine options which include a 1.6 liter flex fuel unit that is capable of producing 101 hp and 104 hp when powered with gasoline and ethanol respectively. The Gol is the best selling car from VW in Brazil with more than seven million units manufactured. The new 3 door Gol will be priced at R$26,690 which is R$1,300 less than the price of the 5 Door variant.

Volkswagen AG presents automotive highlights in Brazil

  • World premiere: Gol two-door as new entry-level model in Brazil

Wolfsburg / São Paulo, 22 October 2012 – On the eve of the São Paulo International Motor Show, Volkswagen AG presented a fascinating range of mobility to over 300 journalists from across the globe. Thomas Schmall, President and CEO von Volkswagen do Brasil, together with Brazilian national player and superstar Neymar, revealed the new Gol as a two-door car in a world premiere. The Gol, of which over seven million units have been produced, has been the undisputed best-selling car in Brazil for the past 25 years. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles showed the Amarok Canyon in a Brazil premiere. Other automotive stars of the evening in South America: the Audi S8, the new Bentley Continental GT V8, the outstanding Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse, the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 and the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet. In the heavy commercial vehicle area, MAN Latin America presented the Truck TGX 29.440 and the VW Constellation 6×2 ADVANTECH, plus Scania the R440 6×2 55 Years Special Edition.

In its first Group appearance (“Group Media Night”) of this type on Brazilian soil, Volkswagen AG is underscoring the importance of this South American country. Brazil is the sixth most powerful economy on Earth with a gross domestic product of 2,500 billion US dollars (2011). The German automotive company has been involved in the largest country of South America since 1953 – its approx. 24,000 employees produced over 828,000 vehicles there last year.

The São Paulo International Motor Show is being held from 22 October to 04 November.
