The VW Russian plant rolled out its 500,000th car at its production facility. In Russia, the Vento is known as Polo Sedan and this special car, the 500,000th one, has been painted in colors of the 2014 Olympics and Paralympics which will be held in Russia. The car will be handed over to a local sports center.
VW Vento is available only in select countries like Malaysia, South Africa, India, Russia and Middle East. At this Russian plant, models like the VW Tiguan, polo, Skoda Octavia (Laura) and Fabia are built. Cars are assembled at the plant which helps to cut down costs considerably compared to importing.
European Skoda Rapid will also be assembled at this plant in coming months. A power train plant will also be set up at the Kaluga facility which will help lower the need for imported parts for its vehicles.
Polo sedan or the Vento is one of the best selling cars in Russia. Back in September this year, Volkswagen Perm dealership sold its 100,000 Polo sedan. In Russia, Vento is available in three trim levels and is powered by a 1.6 liter Otto engine which is capable of producing 105 Hp of power while coupled to a 5 speed manual or 6- speed automatic gear box transmission system. The automatic transmission system provides one an opportunity of making use of Tiptronic or sequential shift function.
