Volvo India aims to grow by 35% in 2013: V40 launch nears

Volvo Auto India expects to see enhanced sales during the year 2013. The Swedish luxury auto maker has set a target to achieve 35% growth in sales compared to 2012 sales.

During 2012, Volvo India sales stood at 821 units while in 2011 this figure was at 320 units. For 2013, the company looks to cross 1300 units in sales. In the recent past, company’s market share in the luxury car segment has increased from 1% in 2011 to 2.8% in 2012.

Volvo aims to have a market share of 15% by 2020 as stated by their Managing Director, Thomas Ernberg. Volvo is seeing increased demand in Hyderabad markets and is planning on using the same strategies in Southern states of India such as Kochi and Chennai. The new Volvo V40 Cross Country is also scheduled for launch in the country within the next two months. The launch of V40 is expected to catapult the company ahead in their bid to enhance market share. A new service facility was also opened in Kochi while a total of 13 to 14 such service centers will be inaugurated in various parts of the country by the year end.
