Yamaha Motors predicts sales during the current year to go upto 6 lakh units as against 4.9 lakh units sold in 2013. The company launched refreshed versions of their 150cc bikes FZ and FZ-S thereby strengthening their foothold in this segment. The company is also eager to launch models in the 100 to 125cc segment and would like to be the first to venture into the 150cc Deluxe segment as well.
To cater to first time buyers and buyers in rural and semi urban areas, the company is slated to commence work on a small bike in the $500 (INR 30,000) range. Though Yamaha Motors has not stated as to when this world’s cheapest bike will emerge, they are sure of its pricing and the fact that it will allow the company to increase their market share substantially.
Yesterday, Mr. Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd and Brand Ambassador, John Abraham launched FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0. 2014 Yamaha FZ V 2.0 is priced at INR 76,250 while FZ-S was launched at a price of INR 78,250 as sales commence from today.
