Exterior design of new i20 is going to be more European; front facade seems to have taken inspiration from Peugeot’s drawing board. Front grille is redesigned; thin slit above which head lamps and bonnet lines sprout. New lamp assembly on front is modish, complimented by sporty trapezium fog lamps.
Rear fascia is fashionable as well, with new tail lamps and bumper lights. Hatch door looks smaller with tall rear bumper. New alloy wheels are snazzy. Key aspects of next generation i20 that makes it very voguish are slanting roofline and blacked out C pillars. In short, new Hyundai i20 is way ahead of current model in styling department. Features and tech bits are expected to be highly competitive than current i20.
Powertrain in 2015 Hyundai i20 would include 1.2 litre petrol Kappa engine producing 83 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm @ 4,000, same as seen in Xcent, and a 1.4 litre diesel mill generating 90 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm. Automatic and manual transmission variants will be available. Segment rivals include Maruti Swift, VW Polo and Fiat Punto. Honda Jazz will include in the list when it relaunches early next year.
