2016 Toyota Innova enters production at plant in Karawang

A special ceremony was held at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) to welcome in the 2016 Toyota Innova as it rolled off production lines.

2016 Toyota Innova has been officially launched in Indonesia. This is the first market to receive the second generation Innova while launch in India is expected sometime in 2016; following its showcasing at the Auto Expo in February. TMMIN officials welcomed in the new Innova being produced from TMMIN Karawang Plant 1 which is first plant in the world from where the new Innova will be produced.

In a revolutionary new design as compared to the outgoing model, 2016 Toyota Innova is being offered in three trim levels, a base G and V trim and top end Q variant. The new Innova boasts of 85% local content while 16 new suppliers have been roped in for the new model increasing suppliers to 123 companies.

New Toyota Innova

2016 Toyota Innova is based on a reinforced ladder frame platform borrowed from the Hilux Revo. Dimensions stand at 4,735mm in length, 1,830mm in width, 1,795mm in height while its wheelbase measures 2,750mm. Exteriors sport new LED projector headlamps, 17” alloy rims and chrome inserts on its dual slate grille. L Shaped tail lamp and sharkfin antenna is also evident. Interiors are similar to those seen on the Toyota Hilux and Fortuner and while the G and V trims get dual tone interiors with chrome accents the top end Q trim is seen with wood panels and leather upholstery.

Pricing details of the 2016 Toyota Innova have also been revealed. Prices range from – IDR 282 million (INR 13.59 lakh) for 2016 Toyota Innova G MT petrol variant and going upto IDR 423.8 million (INR 20.43 lakh) for 2016 Toyota Innova Q AT variant.
