The new special edition Veyron pays tribute to Bugatti Type 18 “Black Bess”. Powered by a 5.0 liter engine delivering 100 ps and a top speed of 161 kmph, it is one of the first ever street legal super sports cars. Type 18 was raced by company founder Ettore Bugatti and won the 1912 Mont Ventoux hill climb. Only seven were built, one of them owned by Roland Garros, the famous French aviation pioneer, after who the famous clay-court tennis world championships are named.
Speaking about the Bugatti ‘Black Bess’ Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, it features a W16 8.0l engine delivering 1200 hp, with 0 to 100 kmph acceleration accomplished in 2.6 seconds while reaching a top speed of 408.84 kmph. This penultimate Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse “Legends” model will receive an all black carbon fiber body with gold accents while interiors will be upholstered in light beige and steering wheel will be done up in red crimson leather.
Black Bess Veyron Gran Sport Vitesse’s grille and rear badge are coloured in 24-carat gold. Door cards and rear car sections will also sport sketches of Type 18 sports car and Roland Garros’ airplane, a close friend of Ettore Buggati and the first owner of the Black Bess. Each of the editions of Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Legends Black Bess models will be distinct in design from each other with exclusive art work on door panels thus ensuring that no two models are alike.
