Daimler Art Collection to be showcased at Brescia Santa Giulia Museum from March to August 2013


Starting from 7th March 2013 right until August 2013 Daimler Art Collection will be on display at the Museo di Santa Giulia Museum in Brescia, Italy. The exhibition which is joint efforts of both Mercedes Benz Museum and Museo Mille Miglia will comprise of 20th Century and contemporary works of art by internationally renowned artists and painters.

Situated in rustic and picturesque Lombard monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Museo do Santa Giulia will be venue for this exhibition in 2013. Daimler Art Collection was founded in 1977 and comprises over 2000 works of art from 700 artists which include abstract constructive, conceptual and minimalist works besides legendary vehicles from the archives of Mercedes benz, photography and video art.

The collection is world renowned for its quality and has been on display at various Daimler locations showcasing how art has become a vital part of the automakers identity. Daimler Art Collection is regarded as one of the oldest and most important of corporate collections in Germany. Originally limited to abstract geometric and minimalist art, the collection underwent a change in the 1990s when works under mixed media were also accepted. A book covering major contributing artists is compiled and covers categories such as car related, commissioned works, political statement, photography, sculptures, pop art, ambient art and video.
