Set for launch in early August 2015, the upcoming Ford compact sedan was showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. Officially unveiled earlier in March this year, it will be produced at the Ford India’s new plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
At the unveiling in Sanand, Ford India had said that the car will be launched by mid 2015. Considering that the car is on a country wide tour, which will only end by mid July 2015, launch of Figo Aspire will take place thereafter; probably first week of August 2015. Thousands of customers have already witnessed the new Figo Aspire, thanks to Ford’s ‘What Drives You’ campaign.
The marketing campaign is very similar to that of Ford EcoSport, which was launched in 2013; about a year after it was showcased as a concept. That campaign, called ‘Urban Discoveries’, was a successful one and probably that is the reason Ford India is going ahead with a similar pre-launch marketing campaign for Figo Aspire. (EcoSport too was showcased across major shopping malls across Indian cities as part of the campaign and participants were given a chance to win a new EcoSport; same is the case with Figo Aspire ‘What Drives You‘ campaign).
Though launch is a few more weeks away, the good news is that Ford Figo Aspire bookings are now open.
Ford Figo Aspire will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Diesel engine will be a 1.5 liter TDCi four cylinder mill, while petrol will be a 1.2 liter TiVCT engine. Both will be offered with 5 speed manual gearbox, while petrol will also get a 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission option. Power output figures of these engines are not revealed yet.
Ford has claimed that Figo Aspire will set new benchmarks in the segment. On board equipment will include satellite navigation system, voice activated system, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, plush leather seats, bog boot, premium interiors, auto AC, keyless entry, six airbags, ABS, EBD, and much more. The top end Ford Figo Aspire variant will sport SYNC AppLink, their state of the art connectivity solution.
Once launched, Ford Figo Aspire sedan will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent. Price is expected to be in the Rs 5.2 – Rs 8 lakh bracket.
