Honda Cars India has revealed that the Amaze diesel will deliver 100 PS peak power and 200 Nm torque. At the same time, the new 1.5L diesel engine will deliver ARAI certified 25.8 kmpl mileage. This means, that the diesel Amaze sedan will be the most fuel efficient car in India, surpassing Chevrolet Beat hatchback and Tata Indigo eCS by 0.4 kmpl.
Dimensions stand at 3990 mm long, 1505 mm tall, 1680 mm wide and a wheelbase of 2405 mm. Honda Amaze will be launched on 11th April in both petrol and diesel variants. It will be offered in 6 colors. For the petrol variant, Amaze will be offered with Brio’s 1.2L i-VTEC generating 88 PS and 109 Nm torque. Just like the Brio, Amaze petrol too will be available in both automatic and manual transmission options. Amaze petrol MT will deliver 18 kmpl mileage and Amaze petrol AT will deliver 15.5 kmpl mileage.
The diesel variant Amaze, will only be offered in manual transmission and Honda India has stated that they have no plans to offer automatic transmission for the diesel in the near future. Price of Honda Amaze will be revealed on the 11th April 2013.
Amaze diesel is expected to be priced in the range of INR 7 lakhs to INR 8.5 lakhs. Bookings of Honda Amaze have opened at authorized dealerships. Pune’s Crystal Honda is accepting Amaze bookings for an advance payment of INR 10,000.
Honda Amaze will be launched to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire in India. DZire diesel variant offers 75 PS peak power, 190 NM peak torque and 23.4 kmpl mileage. The price band in which DZire diesel is available in India, ranges from INR 5.99 lakhs to INR 7.50 lakhs (ex-showroom).
So, if Honda gets the pricing of their Amaze sedan right, they can see a good jump in sales figures. Honda Cars India monthly average sales for the past three months have stood at 5,000 units while the same of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire sedan are at 15,000 units.
