When compared to 6036 Honda Amaze compact sedans sold in May 2013, 17265 Maruti Suzuki Dzire units were sold. For the corresponding period last year, the company had sold 17707 units, equating to 2.5% sales decline. In fact, last month, they sold 19446 Maruti Suzuki Dzire units. Between both months, Dzire sales numbers have declined in comparison to Honda Amaze that has recorded remarkable growth with 4,852 Honda Amaze compact sedans sold in April 2013. For May 2013, 2851 Chevrolet Sail sedans were sold by General Motors India.
Sales during the month of May 2013 were up 9.8% as compared to 10,334 units sold in May 2012 while the company exported a total of 738 units during the past month. Total sales stood at 12080. For the month, Honda clearly cause a ripple in the automakers’ standings. While the leading order stands as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra, Honda gained big time having moved into 4th place leaving behind Tata Motors and Toyota Kirloskar.
During May 2013, HCIL sold 3,202 units of City sedan, 2,012 units of Brio and 24 units of Accord sedan. Sales of their new Amaze sedan reached a total of 6,036 units while 68 units of their CR-V were sold during the month. Honda Amaze received response especially from first time buyers and consumers on the lookout for a family car. It is its competitive pricing and the fact that it is offered with a host of diesel engines that has drawn more attention to the Honda Amaze. Available at a price between Rs 6,49,048 and Rs 8,01,734.
