The Honda City hatchback which is called as Gienia has been spotted in China ahead of its debut. The new model is basically the Griez (China-spec City) sedan with a chopped boot.
In the international markets, the Jazz a.k.a. Fit serves as the hatchback version of the City but China, being an idiosyncratic market, has enough room for a second hatchback from the same family.
To be exclusive to the dragon country, the Gienia will be made by the Honda-Dongfeng joint venture and is likely to be launched towards the end of the year. Visually, the hatchback’s front fascia has a much bolder grille and bumper. It’s based on the Concept B design study.
The rear fascia derives inspiration from the latest generation of the Civic sedan. The Chinese hatchback sports an overdone bumper and an ill-fitting rear spoiler. The Gienia is a large hatchback measuring 4,517 mm in length, 1,477 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
