Honda Mobilio bookings cross 8,800 within 7 days of launch

Launched on 23rd of June 2014, within 7 days of launch, Honda has amassed a total of 8,800 bookings for their Mobilio MPV. Launched at a base price of INR 6.49 lakhs for the petrol variant and at INR 7.89 lakhs for its diesel counterpart, Mobilio competes with Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova in the segment.

Honda Mobilio bookings cross 8,800 within 7 days of launchSet to challenge the likes of Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia and Toyota Innova, the new Mobilio is open for bookings as deliveries are being immediately effected. What surprises few buyers, is the huge price difference between Mobilio and its main rival Maruti Ertiga.

Honda Mobilio is launched in three trim levels of E, S and V with the sporty looking RS variant offered as a top end diesel variant. Based on Honda’s “Man Maximum, Machine Minimum” philosophy, Honda Mobilio top spec model is priced at INR 1.41 lakhs and 1.29 lakhs over the petrol and diesel variant of Maruti Ertiga while the Mobilio with RS body kit is priced INR 1.10 lakhs over the topend Mobilio V trim.

One wonders whether there is some degree of overconfidence by the automakers where pricing of these variants are concerned. This can be the thought process as Honda’s previous two launches in India, Amaze and City, both have come out to be very successful. But considering that they are offered at a price which matches that of competition, Mobilio’s success might get limited in due course. Especially when Maruti is offering flat Rs 30,000 cash discount on all variants of Ertiga.

Pricing apart, Honda and its dealers are optimistic of the Mobilio’s success. With over 8,800 bookings since launch, it seems buyers are regaling the Mobilio’s efficient styling, flexible interiors and fashionable exteriors.
