This new Hyundai i10 based small car will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The new compact vehicle is likely to receive as much adulation as the Hyundai Santro and i10 models, thanks to the growing demand for such cars.
Hyundai’s new car for India will be positioned around the present i10 with the company looking for a brand new approach in the India auto sector. The highlight of the new car will be the option of diesel engine as the Korean car maker does not offer a diesel engine powered car in the segment. Over the last few years, car buyers in India have preferred diesel cars to petrol powered options, as the former costs much lesser and is more efficient. This new diesel car from Hyundai will help them strengthen their position as the second largest car manufacturer in India, reports TOI.
Sales of i10 fell 29 percent in 2012 with only 98,702 units sold as against 1,38,466 units sold during 2011. The i10 in its hay days was the country’s third largest selling passenger vehicle, but dropped to 6th position in 2012.
