Maruti Suzuki is planning launch of their new hatchback codenamed YRA as on date, around the festive season in India. Talking about Maruti YRA engine details, it has now emerged that this upcoming hatchback will receive a K10B 1.0l petrol engine, also seen on the Celerio and Alto K10.
Though Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback will be powered by the same 1.0 litre three cylinder engine, output will be much higher. In the Alto and Celerio, this naturally aspirated engine delivers 68 PS power and 90 Nm torque. In the YRA, this engine will get a turbocharger, which will not only increase power output, but will also keep the fuel efficiency as good as in the Alto and Celerio.
Maruti YRA is a global hatchback. Already spied in India, in a uncamouflaged form, the hatchback was teased by Suzuki Europe, as iK-2 concept. Before India, this new hatchback will be launched in Europe, where it will get the same made-in-India 1.0l turbocharged engine. Yes. The car will be exported first, while India launch will take place by end of this year.
Positioned above the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback will weigh 90 kgs less than Swift due to the fact that it is based on a new platform. Once launched in India Maruti Suzuki YRA hatchback will find competition from Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. Pricing is expected to be competitive and could be in the INR 5.5 to 8.5 lakh range.
