Mercedes Benz working on BMW X6 rival?

BMW X6 has been liked by SUV and coupe enthusiasts alike. This car is designed in such a way to bring the best of both, into one. Rivals, Audi and Mercedes Benz are at a somewhat losing end as they don not really have a competitor to the X6. But, as we know, that Audi has already spoken about Q6, and now its is Mercedes Benz, who might launch a rival, named MLC.

Mercedes Benz working on BMW X6 rivalMercedes Benz MLC will be placed on the same platform as M Class though similarities end there. Exteriors will sport a new grille, flared wheel arches, coupe style roofline, headlight and tail lamp design similar to those seen on the CLS. The upcoming model will also feature M Class all wheel drive though minus any special off road facilities. Interiors will be plusher than the ML with sports seats and customized interiors while safety features will include adaptive cruise control and autobrake.

Expected for release in 2015, the four wheel drive crossover will come in with a choice of engine options starting from a 265 hp diesel version while the top end version will be capable of 544 hp. The crossover will be available with both six and eight cylinder gasoline engines in the US along with top of the range AMG model. (Source: Car and Driver) Mercedes Benz MLS Spy shots- here.
