New Hero scooter to challenge Honda Activa 3G’s authority in Q2, 2015
Hero is said to be planning for the launch of its new scooter sometime around mid-2015. It will be a unisex model targeted exclusively at Honda Activa 3G (the segment leader indomitable thus far). Sales of scooters has been outpacing motorcycles in Indian market, demanding two-wheeler makers like Honda, Hero, TVS and Mahindra to be increasingly competitive.
Given the goal of the world’s largest two-wheeler maker (by volume) to be present and have a strong foothold in every segment of motorcycles and scooters, the company is moving up the launch schedules of its two upcoming scooters ahead of its new motorbikes.
Hero MotoCorp will be relying on a new 110 cc commuter scooter built on an all-new platform with all-metal body and possibly hosting the new self-developed engine as well. Report claims that this unisex scooter was not showcased at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, meaning it will not be the Hero Dash. Then what were the products behind camouflage in recent spy shots, and what about the Dash?
