New Tata Nexon – 11 Things to Know

  • The Name

    Codenamed Osprey, new Tata Nexon is a sub 4 meter SUV. It is based on the same platform as the new Tiago and Tigor. Name Nexon has been derived from “NEXT-ON”. Tata Motors says that it signifies the inspiration of NEXON from next level of things.

  • Similar in Dimensions to Maruti Brezza and Ford EcoSport

    Tata Nexon, being in the compact SUV segment will measure less than 4 meters in length. It is offered in 2 rows with 2+3 seating arrangement and gets high ground clearance. In terms of dimensions, the Nexon will measure 3,994 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width and 1,607 mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase measuring 2,470 mm and gets ground clearance of 200 mm. Tata Nexon underpins the modified X1 platform also seen in use on the Tata Bolt and Zest.

    This means that the Nexon is very much of the same size as that of Vitara Brezz and EcoSport.

  • LED Headlight and LED Taillight

    Tata Nexon features LED DRL and projector headlamps in the front. At the rear, diamond shaped tail lamps with LED units were also evident and these are connected by a white strip.

  • Tata Nexon Petrol Engine

    The Revotron 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine offers 108 bhp peak power at 5,000 rpm and 170 Nm torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm mated to a 6 speed TA6300 synchromesh with overdrive manual transmission. This engine will deliver class leading performance thus making it the most powerful petrol car in the segment. The petrol engine gets bore stroke of 77/85.8 and compression ratio of 9.6:1.

  • Tata Nexon Diesel Engine

    The 1.5 liter diesel 4 cylinder Revotorq turbocharged engine to power the Tata Nexon offers 110 PS peak power at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm torque at 1,500-2,750 rpm which will also make it the most powerful diesel car in its segment. This diesel engine, like its petrol counterpart gets mated to a 6 speed TA6300 synchromesh with overdrive manual transmission. This diesel engine gets bore and stroke of 76/82.5 and compression ratio of 16:1.

  • Multi Drive Modes

    Tata Nexon will receive three drive modes of Eco, City and Sport and depending on mode of driving, the driver will be able to tune the car so as to extract optimum performance. The City mode allows cruising the car swiftly while Sport mode offers spirited driving experience. The fuel tank is of 44 liter capacity.

  • Infotainment System

    Tata Nexon infotainment system consists of a 6.5” HD display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility and navigation. The sound system consists of 4 speakers with high-fidelity audio reproduction and 4 tweeters. The floating dashtop HD touchscreen is easy to operate and reduces ‘eye-off read time’. This allows for added safety while it also enhances overall user experience.

  • Safety

    In terms of safety features, the Tata Nexon gets dual front airbags and ABS, ISOFIX mounts. It also gets engine immobilizer, engine start/stop button, reverse parking sensors and reverse camera.

  • Mileage

    Tata Nexon petrol will deliver class leading mileage in the range of 20+ kmpl while the Tata Nexon diesel will deliver mileage in the range of 25 kmpl.

  • Rear AC vents

    Tata Nexon gets best in class rear seating area along with AC vents and blower. It also gets arm rest. The seats are comfortable for 3 passengers.

  • Value For Money?

    Well, price of Tata Nexon will be revealed when it is officially launched. We expected the price to start from INR 6 lakh, ex-showroom for petrol variant and INR 7 lakh, ex-showroom for diesel variant. This will make the new Tata Nexon fantastic value for money deal.
