Nissan first launched Evalia in India back in September 2012, to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Launched at an aggressive starting price of Rs 8.49 lakhs (yes, the price is same today as well for base variant), Nissan Evalia failed to capture the attention of car buyers in the segment.
In the entry level 7 seater MPV segment today, there are players like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, and Chevrolet Enjoy. Of the three, Maruti Ertiga leads with average monthly sales of 5,081 units, followed by Chevrolet Enjoy at 1034 units, while Evalia’s figures are at just 53 units. (figures here are last six months monthly average Jan-June 2014).
Now considering Honda too is going to enter the segment with Mobilio MPV, Nissan seems to have decided to upgrade their Evalia, days before Honda launches Mobilio. Talking about the minor upgrades Nissan Evalia has received, it now features their trademark front grille in chrome finish, dashboard with faux wood finish, new glovebox lid design, and new floor mats.
