The new 2013 Audi R8 sporstcar has finally arrived in India. Launched at an event in New Delhi today, the new 2013 R8 V8 with 7-Speed S tronic has improved its 0-100 kmph acceleration time by 0.3 seconds, as it can now do a 0-100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 300 kmph. The 2013 R8 V10 with S Tronic does a 0-100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 314 kmph.
First launched in 2006, the R8 is available in a choice of two FSI engine options, a 4.2L V8 and a 5.2 V10. The 4.2L FSI generates peak power of 424hp (430PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft), while the more powerful, 5.2L V10 generates 518hp (525PS) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft). The engine output figures for the 2013 models has remained the same. Whats new, is the all new 7-speed S tronic dual clutch transmission, which replaces the 6-speed automated manual R tronic.
Dimensions of the Audi R8 stand at 4431 mm in length, 1930 mm in width, 1249 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2650 mm. Kerb weight of the Audi sportscar ranges between 1560 kgs to 1725 kgs, depending on the model. Th new R8 also has new wheels of larger size. The new size of tires for R8 V8 is 18″ 235/40 front and 285/35 rear and for R8 V10, its 19″ 235/35 front and 295/30 rear.
Exterior changes include, new LED headlights (as a standard on all variants), revamped fascia, a six point single frame grille with horizontal inserts, a newly designed bumper with three corssbars and air inlets, new R8 logo on the back, restyled diffuser, air outlets on each side, and two new round tailpipes. Interior changes include small updates like seen in shift paddles, needles in the instrument cluster, diamond-stitched headlining, door panels and Fine Nappa full-leather seats.
