Tata Motors subsidiary to launch Tata Brabo robot

Showcased at Make in India week in Mumbai and developed at a cost of INR 10 crores, Tata Brabo is ready for launch.

Tata Brabo is the first indigenous robot manufactured by TAL Manufacturing Solutions Limited, a 100 percent subsidiary of Tata Motors. Set for launch in the next two months, the articulate robot is designed in-house by 6 young engineers headed by Anil Bhingurde, Chief Operating Officer of TAL Manufacturing Solutions, a subsidiary of Tata Motors.

The new Tata Brabo robot made in India and made for India with the sole purpose to portray automation in the market in an affordable and cost effective manner. Though designed at TAL, inputs on design came in from Tata Elxi while Tata AutoComp was responsible for manufacture of some parts. Capital was the sole responsibility of Tata Capital.

Tata wishes to target micro, small and medium enterprises with the Tata Brabo offering affordable robotic solution at INR 3 lakhs for 2 kg payload and at INR 6 lakhs for the 10 kg payload. While other international companies like Nachi, Panasonic and Universal have smaller robots on offer in the country, Tata Brabo scores over these models with a 35-40% cost advantage due to extensive localized content.
