Tata Safari Storme is seen with a new VariCor engine offering enhanced performance. Safari Storme from Tata Motors has now been successfully launched in markets of Tamil Nadu and also in markets to the north and east of the country while it will be gradually introduced in southern and western Indian markets.
This premium SUV is packed with luxury features and is well received in Tamil Nadu markets where it has seen success along with Sumo Gold which was introduced last year. Launched at a starting price of Rs 9.95 lakhs (ex showroom, Chennai) Tata Safari Storme will be available in four variants – LX, EX, VX and VX 4X4. These will sport a new 2.2 liter VariCor diesel engine producing 142 PS of max power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The original Safari is priced at Rs 8.44 lakhs, ex showroom in Tamil Nadu.
The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission while according to ARAI estimates should offer fuel efficiency of 14 kmph for the 4X2 variants while the 4X4 variant should have fuel efficiency standing at 13.2 kmpl.
