A huge fire broke out at a vendor park within Tata Motor’s Sanand plant on 16th of June and it took 12 fire tenders to bring the situation under control. The fire severely damaged Supreme Treaves’s facilities.
The aforementioned vendor supplies trim parts for the Nano which is being made at the Sanand plant.
In a statement released by Tata Motors after the accident, it said that no injuries have been reported and the incident will not impact the production of the Tiago which is also being manufactured at the Sanand plant.
Tata Motors is evaluating the extent of the damage. The fire may lead to temporary suspension of Nano’s production but it is not likely to affect the deliveries since the automaker and its dealers usually have enough Nanos in their inventories.
The Tata Sanand plant fire comes not long after the Subros plant fire in Manesar (near Maruti Suzuki’s plant). The Subros incident resulted in Maruti halting its production for two consecutive shifts.
