Bernard Tomic, the 19 year old rising Australian tennis player seems to have gotten on the wrong side of traffic laws three times in as many hours. Tomic was driving his bright orange BMW sports car and was pulled over by police in quick succession on Australia Day. He was served driving traffic infringement notices for contrary to the 'conditions of his license'.

P-platers under ordinary circumstances are not permitted to drive a high performance vehicle Bernard Tomic is exempted from such limitations in relation to his tennis career. He is allowed to drive his $150,000 V8 BMW M3 to and from training. He has accused Gold Coast police of harassment saying "you think I'm not Australian." The incident on Australia Day, has Tomic say that the police referred to his European heritage.

He has been fined $600 and picked up enough points to lose his license. It appears, in defiance, the tennis player drove the V8 BMW M3 around the Broadbeach restaurant strip with a friend, and then went home. In fact, upon questioning, Tomic first told police he was driving "to get some strings," and went on to add, "That's for me to know and you to find out." He has now called upon top Queensland defense lawyer Chris Nyst.
