In a developing country such as India, the SUV at one time was associated only with the rich but this impression isn't going to last long, with a number of companies planning to launch their new line of SUV's which are expected to fall into the 10 lakh category.

These cars are in their own way designed to perfection and at the same time engineered to ensure low maintenance, and more importantly to be fuel efficient. India has one of the youngest populations in the world, and thus, many companies have decided to target this group of the Indian populace.

This could lead to a change in fortunes for the hatchback which is very popular in the Indian auto market today. Maruti Suzuki, Renault India and Ford Motors are a few of the auto giants that are planning to launch their SUV's in the near future.
