Kawasaki Z1000 launch on 23rd December: Prebookings commence

Well timed ahead of the Christmas, Kawasaki will launch their new Z1000 superbike in India on 23rd December 213. The new Z1000 was on display at the EICMA show in Milan earlier this year. Pre bookings have already commenced at a company dealership in Pune.

Kawasaki Z1000 unveiled in November at 2013 International Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan, Italy (EICMA) is based on a new Sugomi design language. Competing with some of the top European superbikes, Z1000 will compete with the likes of KTM 1290 Super Duke R, Ducati Streetfighter and MV Rivale besides Yamaha FZ1, Suzuki Bandit 1200 and Honda CB100R in India. It is powered by a 1043cc inline 4 engine producing a total of 140 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 110 Nm torque at 7300 rpm, while being mated to a six speed manual gearbox.

The new Kawasaki will weigh a total of 2.72 kgs more than the earlier model due to the fact that fuel tank has been enhanced to now occupy a total of 17 liters while ABS is also part of standard equipment on board the new Z1000.

Prices at which the new Kawasaki Z1000 will be launched have not yet been announced but estimates put this upcoming model in the INR 13 category as it is slated to come into the country via a CBU route. Pre bookings have commenced at a down payment of INR 5 lakhs while deliveries could be expected by January 2014.
