KTM RC390 is a fully faired sports bike to be launched in India later this year. The RC390 was on exhibit along with RC125 and RC200 at the EICMA International Bike Exhibition in Milan late last year. Based on the Duke 390, which was launched in India last year, the RC390 will see some added body fairings, a new headlight cluster and integrated turn signals on its wing mirrors. The upcoming RC390 will also sport a redesigned fuel tank and clip on handle bars.
Engine specifications on board the new RC390 will include a 373cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine also seen on the Duke 390 which generates 45 PS peak power and 35 Nm peak torque while mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Heavier by 8 kgs as compared to the Duke 390, RC390 weighs a total of 147 kgs while top speed is pegged at 180 kmph.
As far as sales are concerned, KTM has already overtaken BMW, and now targets Japanese bike makers such as Kawasaki and Suzuki. Bajaj Auto Pune plant will be the production hub for all KTM bikes with engines upto 400cc as of now. The brand is already a favorite among young bikers in the country who are eagerly looking forward to the KTM RC390, which is rumoured to come in at a price of INR 2.2 lakhs.
