A select group of potential buyers eagerly awaiting the new Lancia Stratos are going to be a disappointed lot as the car is not likely to go into production. Production plans have been blocked by the CEO as reported by MSN Cars UK. It is true that President of Ferrari Luca di Montez who drove the new Stratos feels that it is an excellent vehicle.
The company website has stated that Pininfarina and other Ferrari dependant groups are against production of the model even for a limited period of time. Hence it is unlikely that customers even though eager for this car would be able to lay their hands on one at least in the present scenario.
Production discussions reached a head when Michael Stoschek said that he wanted to invest in Fiat and Pininfarina so as to launch the new Lancia Stratos. The only way in which auto aficionados can get a chance to see this model will be at auto shows around Europe as it is unlikely that the company will be changing its mind about production plans in the future. Considering that the Lancia Stratos would need support from Ferrari since it's built on the Ferrari F430, this could very well be a move that protects Ferrari's better interests.
