Across all the countries in the world today, demand for diesel powered cars is on the rise. Top auto manufacturers like Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW and Porsche are planning to launch more diesel powered vehicles for the year 2013.
Mr. Kay Segler of MINI too has been rumored to be making plans for the coming year where he plans on bringing in some diesel models into the country. Speaking to auto magazines, Segler is keen to offer his American patrons diesel powered vehicles. Next generation diesel powered MINI's which will be out later this year or early 2013, will be offered to customers in the US.
The MINI Cooper SD was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. This is fitted with a 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine offering 143 horsepower and 225 lb/ft torque helping the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8 seconds and a top speed of 210 kmph, maintaining fuel economy at 54.7 miles per gallon. US car buyers today, are keen on smaller, speedier and easy to park vehicles, which are not only fuel efficient, but at the same time not highly priced.
