Two new passenger vehicles were unveiled on the same day. Nissan Evalia was unveiled along with Ashok Leyland Style, both of which are passenger vehicles but with a difference. While Evalia is purely a passenger vehicle, Stile will be targeting the business side. Mr. Andy Palmer, Chairman, Ashok Leyland vehicles Limited said that Evalia will be a mixture of both, an LCV and a passenger vehicle for India which will compete with the likes of Toyota Innova.
Stile on the other hand will be used as fleet, business to business and taxi services and will be priced below the Evalia MPV. Where style and interiors are concerned too, there will be a marked difference between these two vehicles as they are targeting different segments.
Both vehicles will be sold through different sales networks as Ashok Leyland will deal with commercial vehicles while Nissan will take care of sales for the passenger vehicles. Dr. V Sumantran, Non Executive Vice president of Ashok Leyland said that Evalia will be launched by mid 2012 in the Indian auto market, and Stile SUV will be launched early 2013 and did not forecast any rivalry between these two vehicles due to the totally different segments they were targeting.
