The days when Indy was considered as a stepping stone for Formula One drivers, but these days, it seems that the tables have turned. A number of great racers such as Nigel Mansell, Emerson Fittipaldi, Graham Hill and Mario Andretti looked to Indy as a launch pad to being a next F1 racer.
Indy is looked upon as a premier racing series but what they really need is big names to take part rather than most of their racers crossing over to NASCAR. Lotus has played a major part in getting F1 driver Takuma Sato to Indy. Lotus is also credited with getting Jean Alesi and Sebastien Bourdais to IndyCar and it is hoped that Rubens Barrichello will also follow suit.
Since Williams selected Bruno Senna over Barrichello, Barrichello had no place to go and reports were in that he was contemplating test driving for K V Racing. Rubens with no oval track record, it is hoped that he will find a place as the next Formula One driver at Indy.
