With a number of auto companies heading the turbo petrol and direct injection way, Toyota has also decided to jump into the fray. While Hyundai and Kia have already entered the markets, Honda and Toyota are new and rather late entrants.

Hybrid engines are the need of the hour and becoming ever popular though they have yet to reach the limits achieved by turbocharged internal combustion engines. Toyota have announced that they will be embarking on this technology by early 2013 which will be seen on domestic models for a start and depending on its popularity will be seen on a global basis.

It must be mentioned that this direct injection technology has its benefits as these engines not only bring with it higher fuel efficiency but less emissions as well which make them ideal for urban use. Direct injection technology and turbo charged engines are economical than even hybrids and Toyota is hopeful that this technology will be applied to their entire line up in the not too distant future.
