Hyundai Motor India Limited exports grow by 3.9% for September 2012

The Indian auto sector has recorded a plunge in sales during the month of September 2012. Major auto manufacturers in the country suffered setbacks and are now looking forward with anticipation at the coming festive season to revive their sales figures. Hyundai Motor sales for the month of September 2012 stood at 53,558 units from 57,804 units in September 2011.

This drop in sales to the tune of 7.3% is primarily due to high interest rates, regular increases in fuel prices and suppressed demand which the company hopes will revive well in time for the festive season in India. Domestic sales also fell by 14.2% to 30,851 units in September 2012 as against 35,955 units in September 2011 but the only silver lining to the dark cloud was where exports were concerned which increased by 3.9% to 22,707 units.

Sales of the new Hyundai Elantra have been a top performer which has been receiving a great deal of buyer attention. Segment wise sales for the month of September 2012 stood at 46,414 units of Eon, Santro, i10 and i20, 6,287 units of Accent and Verna, 781 units of Elantra, 20 units of Sonata and 56 units of Santa Fe.
