Maruti Swift facelift and Hyundai i20 facelift spied together

2015 Hyundai i20 was spotted undergoing tests on  outskirts of Chennai recently. Once launched, this premium hatchback will take on the Maruti Swift, which incidentally is also due for a refresh and was in the same frame as that of Hyundai i20 facelift.

maruti swift facelift spied rearLarger than the model it replaces, 2015 Hyundai i20 measures under 4 meters in length to take advantage of lower taxes. Hyundai i20 will come in with an all new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language seen on board the Genesis, Sonata and ix25, while it even sits on a brand new platform.

Exteriors were noted sporting a hexagonal grille while side profile has been modified with a low coupe like roofline towards the rear. Boot space also seems to be more spacious as compared to the current model while the rear end sports new taillights and boot lid design.

Interior specifications were not available but the 2015 Hyundai i20 is expected to be more spacious than the outgoing model. However, due to a sloping roofline head space at the rear may be compromised. Where engine specifications are concerned, the new Hyundai i20 will continue with same 1.2 liter Kappa petrol and 1.1 liter diesel in Europe while a 1.5 liter diesel may be introduced. All engines will be mated to manual or automatic transmissions.

Speaking about the Swift facelift, it has already been on sale in Europe since last year. It’s India launch will take place in July 2014. Changes to the exterior include LED DRLs, electric ORVMs with turn indicators, new center stop light on the rear door, revised instrument cluster. On the engine front, it will be the same 1.2l petroll VVT engine with 87 PS power, and 1.3l diesel MultiJet with 75 PS power.
