Mercedes Benz, which was in a top luxury bracket at one time, is now aiming to get back into that top spot in the segment once again.  In its halcyon days, Mercedes Benz was regarded as top class vehicles with the best possible comforts and luxuries that could ever be offered in a car.  The company went through a bad phase in the 1990s when new luxury cars were brought into the market to compete in both design and reliability.

Now, once again Mercedes Benz is trying to recapture the same status and position and is making an effort to outshine BMW and Audi who have taken first and second position where global auto markets are concerned. n fact, both German automakers are faring rather well because of the boost from the Chinese auto market.

Mercedes sales were up 7% in September 2011 while that of BMW increased by 17% and that of Audi by 17.4% during the same month.  In an interview, Mr. Dieter Zetsche, Chief Executive Officer of Daimler said that it was the company’s endeavor to regain their No.1 position with both profitability and sales in the luxury segment.  10 new models are being planned by 2020 which is hoped to put Mercedes Benz back where they belong.
