Frost & Sullivan’s analysis of the Indian passenger vehicle market have come to the conclusion that the Indian consumer is a demanding lot. Higher disposable incomes, economic growth and better consumer awareness has led to customers enhancing demands. These are seen in the form of both safety and infotainment features being demanded in passenger vehicles.

Indian consumers are demanding features such as adjustable headlights, parking sensors, additional airbags, enhanced safety features and the latest in infotainment while opting for new vehicles. Auto manufacturers are bending over backwards to meet these demands in the face of competition, so as to enable then to expand their customer base. Features such as rear parking sensors which were at one time considered to be a feature only available in high end models will soon be more common place.

Rear view cameras will also be familiar to not only high end trims, but also in the compact and midsized segments. Such demands are more frequently seen in the case of woman drivers who also demand automatic transmission systems for better handling especially in congested traffic situations. Bluetooth and navigational aids are also being demanded specially considering the pathetic road conditions in the country.
