Changes in facelift operation will be mostly cosmetic and few mechanical. New X3 will receive similar changes in exterior features as seen in BMW X5 facelift launched in presence of Sachin Tendulkar recently. Larger and more aggressive headlamps, more prominent kidney grille, restyled bumpers, new alloy wheel designs and touched up tail lights will be seen in upcoming BMW X3 facelift. Overall silhouette of the SUV remains identical to the earlier model launched in August 2011.
Interiors will receive glossy trims on center console; new seat upholstery designs and cup holders will be seen as well. Electric opening function for tailgate will also add to list of new features in forthcoming version of BMW X3.
Powertrain kits of new X3 SUV will be same as those seen in older X3. 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre diesel engines are offered in Indian market. Former engine producing 184 bhp maximum power and 380 Nm peak torque was plonked in previous iteration of X3. Same engine pushing out 190 bhp is expected to power new X3 facelift, along with 7.1% hike in fuel efficiency. Latter, 3.0 litre 6 cylinder power plant would not be facing retune.
Price of new BMW X3 facelift could fall in Rs. 43 to Rs. 55 lakhs bracket. X3 will continue to be assembled at BMW Chennai plant and will compete with Audi Q5, Mercedes ML Class, Land Rover Freelander 2 and Volvo XC60.
