Mahindra Bolero next gen spy shots emerge, launch later 2015?
2016 Mahindra Bolero (codenamed U301) sunk in camouflage was caught testing in Chennai recently. It looks like Scorpio facelift at first glance, but with sharper sight the doubt fades away making it clear that it is Bolero’s next self.
The Bolero test mule in picture seems to carry same physical characteristics as current version, and retains old school halogen tail lamps. However the new Bolero will be built on new hydroformed ladder frame chassis and the vehicle could fall in sub-4m space. But much like Bolero’s second extra long variant offering (Bolero plus), new version could also sport the same approach.
Expected powertrain on Mahindra Bolero’s next release is Quanto’s 1.5 litre 3 cylinder diesel engine coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and possible AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) as well. Present Bolero’s 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine delivers 63 bhp max. power @ 3,200 rpm and 180 Nm peak torque at @ 1,440 rpm.
Price of current gen Mahindra Bolero DI AC BS III is around Rs. 6.25 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.
