Mercedes Benz C Class and M Class five stars in US NCAP ratings
Mercedes Benz C Class and M Class five stars in US NCAP ratings. Both these vehicles are top scorers in European Euro NCAP ratings and in tests undertaken by American Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
This draws attention to the stringent safety and driver/passenger protection that Mercedes Benz lays emphasis on. Euro NCAP and US NCAP are similar in many respects though the US program has augmented its requirements in 2010 bringing in additional tests which vehicle need to adhere to so as to pass. These stringent testing standards caused a significant decrease in number of five star results which is why Mercedes C Class and M Class adhering to the same according to the new norms have also caused some excitement. Declared a winner in Top Safety Picks by IIHS is also noteworthy.
Mercedes Benz has brought out a variety of safety systems which stand apart in competition. PRE SAFE was introduced over a decade ago while it is available in 14 model series. This safety feature takes into account driver and passenger safety even before an impending crash. It ensures that seat belts and airbags function at their optimum level on impact. The Mercedes Benz Real Life Safety and Intelligent Drive approach is also what draws attention to the company’s commitment not only to occupant safety but also to their need to protect pedestrians.
