Euro NCAP have released results of 15 cars all of which have been awarded 5 star ratings where safety features are concerned. However, Dacia Lodgy has received only three stars in standard Euro NCAP tests. The European Safety Organisation NCAP states the company ‘budgets of safety’. Others adjudged were FIAT 500L, Ford Kuga, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Opel Mokka, the Skoda Rapid, SEAT Toledo, SEAT Leon, new Range Rover, Subaru Forester, 7th gen Volkswagen Golf, and Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid. Each were awarded 5 stars.

According to Euro NCAP occupant safety is of prime importance and cost of the vehicle is not a criteria. In the Dacia Lodgy however, price of vehicle is low but a three star rating in their books is way below standard. Dacia spokesperson told of the new Dacia Duster which is a five seater SUV priced in the UK at £9,000. On sale from January, this vehicle comes in with a high level of safety equipment. Similarly Dacia Duster too is competitively priced but offers driver and passenger along with front side airbags, ABS brakes and emergency brake assist with three rear seatbelts.

Duster’s basic body design with higher driving position also contributes to better visibility of road ahead while height of vehicle adds to better occupant protection. Dacia Sandero hatchback which is branded as the cheapest car in the UK is priced at £6,000 starting price and will arrive in the UK in January 2013. Jaguar Land Rover India today launched the all new fourth generation Range Rover SUV at a starting price of a whopping Rs 1.72 crore onward.
